Louisa Berger (b.1999 in Bern, Switzerland) is a Swiss artist living and working between Bern and London.

The mundane everyday life, with all its little moments that usually go unnoticed, is where Louisa Berger finds most of her inspiration. “I’m drawn to the weird, the absurd, and the unsettling—the odd shapes, strange scenes, and unexpected forms that are often overlooked. Perhaps it’s my way of escaping the chaos of the world, getting lost in the quiet, uneventful details that feel strangely comforting.”

Something that particularly keeps her captivated is the concept of fences. These structures not only serve as physical barriers but also evoke deeper reflections on boundaries — both tangible and intangible. Throughout her work, fences emerge as powerful symbols: they represent both the border to the unreachable and a boundary to distant memories. On a rough surface, she creates a composite scene of blurred images, interrupted by sharp lines formed by these structures, aiming to evoke an atmosphere of subtle violence, inducing feelings of uncertainty and uncanny connections and interpretations in those observing it.
